Legalization Is Supposed to Protect You, Not Make You a Target

For lack of a better word, there was a raid on a cannabis farm going through the legal process to be a legal producer in Trinity County, California. From Instagram by the @little_hill_cultivators, “ If there are no longer felonies for cannabis cultivation here in CA…? Why would the Sheriff’s department show up in tactical gear and shoot and kill a citizen’s dog that is restrained on a chain…? To do nothing more than gain access for a misdemeanor infraction?”

A DCC-licensed farm in Trinity County waiting on the local license was violated. Was it because they’re not white? Or American enough? County inspectors saw plants and called Sheriff’s office; this should’ve been a civil code compliance matter.

Here’s the Press Release from the Trinity Sheriff’s Office. Does it match the video?

Nhia Yang, was non-compliant with Investigators and attempted to keep Investigators away from him by standing near one of the aggressive dogs. When Investigators moved to take Nhia Yang into custody, one of the aggressive dogs attempted to attack an Investigator, who defended himself by firing one shot at the dog. The injured dog was transported to a local veterinary clinic where it passed away. Nhia Yang of Hayfork, CA was arrested for illegal marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale and resisting arrest.
Trinity County Environmental Inspectors removed several containers of illegal pesticides from nearly all of the sites visited. Unpermitted structures, illegal electrical wiring, burning of garbage and illegal disposal of sewage were also discovered at many of the sites.
