Standards & trust
How CLN researches, labels, corrects, and protects editorial independence.
This is review-gated draft language. Owner and counsel approval is required before publication.
Draft policy · do not publish without approval
Source and claim rules
- Use primary sources for statutes, bills, rules, agency actions, court records, and official data whenever available.
- Attribute outside reporting as reporting rather than substituting it for the legal source.
- Preserve dates, jurisdiction, procedural posture, uncertainty, and material limitations.
- Never invent quotations, figures, legal effect, filing status, or a guaranteed outcome.
Human responsibility
Tools may assist research organization, transcription, production, and formatting. A human editor remains responsible for the published result, corrections, disclosure, and release decision.
Sponsors and related entities
Paid relationships are labeled near the content. Sponsors and related entities do not purchase story selection, conclusions, or undisclosed treatment. Separate legal, consulting, retail, and editorial boundaries remain visible.
